Dr James embarked on his medical training at The University of Leicester after gaining a first class honours degree in Chemistry from The University of Nottingham. He holds a bachelor of surgery and bachelor of medicine (MBChB), as well as qualifications in advanced life support and minor surgical skills, amongst many other medical qualifications.
Beyond his role as an aesthetics doctor, Dr James serves as an esteemed NHS practitioner with over 8 years of dedicated training and practice. He remains fully engaged in the NHS, contributing his expertise to hospitals in Hackney and central London. What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
'BOTOX®' or Botulinum toxin is a substance produced by bacteria and purified for both clinical and cosmetic applications. Among its various forms, Botulinum toxin type A is the most potent and widely used for clinical and cosmetic purposes. By injecting this toxin into muscles, it induces temporary muscle paralysis, leading to an improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles and preventing the formation of new ones. Over time, the effects of botulinum toxin gradually diminish, resulting in the return of muscular contractions. Although 'BOTOX®' is the most commonly known brand name for Botulinum toxin type A, there are now several other types available.
What to expect?
A small amount of BOTOX® is injected into targeted muscles to induce relaxation, resulting in the desired cosmetic effect of reducing lines. Before the procedure, we will carefully measure and mark the injection sites on your face. The needles used are very small, ensuring minimal discomfort during the procedure and there is no need for any downtime following the treatment. It may take up to 14 days for the full effect of the injections to become evident. Once the effects are fully visible, we will offer you a review appointment to assess the results and discuss any additional adjustments or top-ups if needed. The duration of the effects varies from person to person, but typically lasts between 4 to 6 months. As time passes, muscle movement will gradually return to the face, prompting the need for repeat treatments to maintain the desired results.

What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler is a sterile gel that we inject beneath the skin to enhance volume, provide lift, and achieve contouring effects. At Aesthetica, we exclusively use Hylauronic Acid (HA) filler, a naturally occurring sugar found in your own skin. This unique feature ensures their safety for injection as the body readily accepts them, and they are also reversible if needed. In the event of any emergency necessitating immediate reversal of the filler, we have the option to utilize hyaluronidase, a specialized product designed to dissolve HA filler promptly and effectively. This provides an additional layer of safety and reassurance for our patients, ensuring that we can address any unexpected situations with utmost care and efficiency.
To achieve optimal results, we utilize fillers of varying density based on the specific areas of your face being treated. For instance, in lip augmentations, we employ a 'soft and squishy' filler, while in nasolabial folds and marionette lines, we opt for a more dense filler. At our clinic, we are committed to using only premium fillers, specifically the renowned brand Intraline, ensuring the highest quality and best outcomes for our valued patients.
What to expect?
Before the treatment, we will apply numbing cream to the targeted area, which typically takes around 15 minutes to take effect. During the procedure, dermal fillers are injected under the skin using a small needle, which may cause some discomfort. However, at Aesthetica, we use filler containing lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps minimize any discomfort associated with the procedure. The results of the treatment become immediately visible, but the HA filler will gradually bind to water and integrate into the soft tissues over the course of two weeks. This process leads to a final natural and smooth appearance.
It's important to note that mild bruising, swelling, redness, and minimal bleeding are common side effects of dermal filler injections. However, these usually resolve within a few days, leaving you with the desired results.
